Custom College Visits was founded by Janice Caine to assist families in the midst of the college search process.
For Janice, college visit planning began when she was researching colleges with her daughter Brittany in 2007. An international meeting and travel planner by trade, Janice found that the world of college searches wasn’t very different. She took to it like a duck to water.
The idea for starting a company that offered customized college tour itineraries came into focus when friends sought out Janice’s expertise. It just seemed so much easier to delegate to someone who understood the complete process backward and forward and who they could depend on to make each college tour a success.
Word got around and in 2009 Janice started focusing on Custom College Visits full-time. Since then, she has had the privilege of assisting families from the U.S. and overseas (including the UK, Russia, China, Hong Kong, Africa and India) pave a successful road to college.
Having spent many years building customized travel itineraries, and knowing from personal experience how stressful planning a multi-day college trip can be, Janice focuses on the specific needs of each family. Whether Skyping with a teen about on-campus arrangements, emailing a parent about the itinerary, or checking in during a trip, Janice is there to provide one-on-one guidance and support.
Janice loves working directly with parents and teens from the initial consultations to the on-campus logistics and arrangements, travel research, and itinerary planning. She also handles college relations.
Janice is a mom of a recent graduate student and a college senior.
What have been some of Janice’s most challenging and rewarding moments?
Working to make sure that four different families traveling during the same week, with four different itineraries, experienced trips that ran smoothly, all while she was attending Accepted Students Day with her son!
With five days notice, successfully planning a five-day college tour itinerary for a mom and son coming to the U.S. from the UK who wanted in-depth visits for colleges in New York, New Jersey and North Carolina.
