When the Unexpected Happens on a College Tour
Wow, what a season it has been for Custom College Visits! We have kept ourselves quite busy quite busy planning and organizing exciting college tours for our clients.
This spring, we had the privilege of working with families from all over the globe. We welcomed visitors from the far corners of South Africa and Alaska. As well as from the bustling cities and suburbs of the East Coast. Each client brought a unique perspective and set of needs to their college tour experience. As a result, we relished the challenge of crafting personalized itineraries that met their expectations.
When a Tour Takes a Turn
However, one particular itinerary stands out in my mind. It was not memorable because of its length or complexity, but because of the unforeseen challenges that arose during the trip. When one of our clients fell ill and needed to cut her trip short, my travel partner Kirsten and I knew we had to act quickly.
First, I worked with the family to revise their itinerary and decide where and when we needed to change their travel plans. Meanwhile, Kirsten tackled the logistical details of rescheduling flights, hotel reservations, and car service. Once those arrangements were in motion, I focused on rescheduling some of the campus tours.
If guided tours were no longer available, I provided the family with self-guided tour maps, audio links, and other resources. In this way, we helped make their remaining visits as engaging and informative as possible.
As a result of this quick teamwork, the family was able to visit several more colleges before heading home early. We were so glad to provide the support they needed during a stressful and uncertain time.
