The following is a guest blog written by my son Philip, who is a rising high school junior. He recently spent three weeks at Ithaca College, taking a course in Sport Management.
Philip is a sports fanatic & natural athlete (baseball, golf, soccer, tennis, etc.) and thinks he would like to pursue a career in the sports world. Last week I flew out to Ithaca from California to pick him up, tour some of the other upstate New York colleges (Cornell, Syracuse & Hamilton) and surprise him with a day trip to Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame. After spending five days with Philip and listening to his "college" experience, I am certain that these weeks in Ithaca will be extremely beneficial as he really starts his college search. Another benefit is that he had an opportunity to meet teens his age from around the country, get a sense of others work ethics, and cultivate lifelong friendships.
